CLIENT BRIEF
A public library designed to counteract the noise of the city. The municipal client requested a building that embodied the Japanese concept of ma — the pregnant pause.
STUDIO RESPONSE
A series of staggered concrete boxes arranged around a courtyard of raked gravel. Sound is controlled not by acoustic panels but by geometry. Every corridor ends in a view of sky.
